Pulmonary contusions, internal bleeding, and some fractures can present with a surprisingly mobile dog. Adrenaline masks a lot in the first hour.
If your dog insists on walking into the clinic, great — still request a full trauma assessment rather than a quick look.
Some owners wait to see how the dog sleeps it off. That delay can cost options if bleeding or lung bruising progresses.
Ask the ER what monitoring window they recommend after discharge. Follow it exactly.
