Dog bloat after eating
A meal plus unproductive retching or sudden belly swelling is a leave-now combination.

Immediate action steps
- Treat unproductive retching, a swollen hard abdomen, and sudden distress as an emergency
- Do not offer food, water, or attempt home decompression
- Call the nearest emergency clinic while preparing to leave immediately
- Keep the dog as calm as possible during transport
- Tell the ER you are concerned about bloat or GDV so they can prepare
Meal timing helps the ER
Note what was eaten, how fast, and when signs started. That history supports GDV evaluation.
Gulping water after exercise is also worth mentioning.
Do not try to walk it off
A slow backyard walk is not treatment for suspected GDV.
Call the ER and go.
