Chronic kidney disease is staged with SDMA/creatinine, urine specific gravity, and blood pressure - not with a sudden switch to “senior food.” Tibetan Spaniels in the 12-15-year lifespan band should have baseline labs while they still eat well. Prescription renal diets are a therapy once staging supports them. Early, aggressive protein restriction in a muscle-wasted senior can do harm. Keep every lab PDF in order; a 0.2 rise in creatinine is a story, not a single appointment.

3. IRIS III-IV

   Prescription renal diet

   Appetite is the outcome. A perfect phosphorus number on a starving dog is a failure.

4. Ongoing

   Recheck cadence

   Your veterinarian sets 1-6 month intervals. Put them in the same reminder engine as vaccines.
