Adolescence is when Mastiff owners either lock in a lean athlete or a lifelong weight problem. Growth plates close near 18-24 months. Giant breeds should stay lean through the growth window; never “push” weight to look finished. Keep protein high enough for muscle, calories low enough that the waist stays.
