The two weeks after a Japanese Chin whelps are a medical watch, not a photo shoot. Eclampsia, metritis, mastitis, and hypoglycemia in toy neonates are time-critical. Lactation calories can double or triple maintenance. Weigh the dam and each puppy daily. If this breed carries BOAS and mitral valve disease, anesthesia leftovers from C-section, airway compromise, or orthopedic pain will stack on top of nursing load.
