Why this stage is different for Irish Setters

Adolescence is when Irish Setter owners either lock in a lean athlete or a lifelong weight problem. Growth plates close near 14-18 months. Large breeds need controlled-calcium large-breed puppy diets - extra calories now become orthopedic debt later. Keep protein high enough for muscle, calories low enough that the waist stays.
