Know the signs, but do not use a quiet first hour as proof of safety.

| Vet vs poison control vs ER | Call poison control for triage and your veterinarian the same day. Kidney injury risk is unpredictable by count alone. If the pet is already vomiting, lethargic, or not producing urine, go to the ER now; poison control alone is not enough. |
Vomiting, reduced appetite, lethargy, or belly discomfort can appear after ingestion. Some dogs look normal at first.
Timestamp each change. A simple note with times helps the ER more than vague memory.
Reduced urine, increasing lethargy, ongoing vomiting, or collapse are not a continue-monitoring moment at home.
If poison control already flagged risk, follow their clinic timeline even if breakfast looked normal.
